Sony Xperia XZs

Announced back in February during the Mobile World Congress this year, Sony’s successor to yesteryear’s Xperia XZ the Xperia XZs has been launched in India today at Rs 49,990. At the India launch, Sony said that the Xperia XZs will be available both online on Flipkart as well as in brick and mortar stores. Sony will start accepting pre-orders for the phone starting April 4. If a customer orders a Xperia XZs on or before April 10, will also get Sony SRS-XB10 Wireless Bluetooth speaker worth Rs 4,990.

When the smartphone was unveiled back in MWC, Sony laid a huge emphasis on the camera of the XZs and the other smartphones it announced, which is only logical as the company makes state-of-the-art camera tech. But that’s just about it. Sony’s range of sensors are used even by its competitors which begs the question, Why one should buy a Sony and not a Pixel?”

The answer herein lies with the enhancements folks at Sony bring to the camera . So, the USP of Xperia XZs is its 19-megapixel camera which is on Motion Eye steroid and can even shoot super slow motion videos. How slow? Well, with the help of a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor, the rear camera can record videos up to 960 frames per seconds and can also shoot videos in 4K.

On the front, Sony has provided a 13-megapixel, 22mm lens with a f/2.0 aperture which captures wide-angle selfie shots.

The Sony Xperia XZs features a 5.2-inch full HD ( 1920×1080 pixels) IPS Triluminos display powered by X-Reality Engine and protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass. The rear panel is also secured by a coating of the protective glass.

Under the hood lies a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with Adreno 530 as its graphics processor backed up by 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.

Xperia XZs runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with Sony’s customised UI.

The Sony Xperia XZs coming to India would be 4G enabled and dual SIM supported. Furthermore, the smartphone comes with an IP68 certification which makes it resistant to dust and water for over 1.5 meters and up to 30 minutes. Additionally, the Xperia XZs also comes with a fingerprint sensor that is embedded on its right edge.

The XZs draws power from a 2,900 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 and Qnovo Adaptive charging as well.

On the connectivity front, the Sony Xperia XZs comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the normal set of communications module along with USB Type-C.

Sony Xperia XZs comes in Ice Blue, Warm Silver and Black colour variants.
